NP Saud’s warning on party readiness
Congress leader NP Saud has said that the party is not ready for the elections scheduled to be held in 084. Speaking on Sunday at the Central Working Committee meeting held at Sanepa in Lalitpur, leader Saud has expressed serious concern about the overall situation of the party. He warned that in the current political scenario, Congress is not able to play a sensitive and active role and the party organization is becoming weak. Saud said, “Attacks on political parties are increasing. It is an attempt to attack not only the parties, but the Constitution itself. In such a situation, the Nepali Congress should raise a clear voice.” Ekantipur

Gen Z on the streets: Kathmandu and Bagmati Province
Protests led by the Gen Z generation against corruption and the government’s decision to restrict social media platforms have moved from the digital space to the streets. From 9am on Monday, demonstrators gathered at Maitighar in Kathmandu to voice their dissent. In recent days, hashtags such as ‘Nepo Kid’ and ‘Nepo Babies’ have been trending online, gaining momentum after the government decided to block unregistered platforms. Organisers have been using social media to share information on protest routes and safety tips. They have also urged students to join the demonstrations in their uniforms, carrying books. At least 19 people were killed and over 100 injured in clashes with security forces after thousands of young people in Nepal took to the streets on Monday to protest against corruption and a government ban on social media websites. A curfew was imposed in parts of Kathmandu after protesters entered the Parliament building in the capital and faced off against the police. “The protests are fuelled by the frustration of youth and their disbelief in authority, as they feel sidelined from decision-making,” an academic told reporters. Online organising: platforms, coordination and escalation
The communication platform Discord was at the forefront of the September Gen Z uprising. The US-based platform, popular among gamers, evolved in Nepal into a space where young people organised and fueled the anti-corruption movement. Two Discord servers—Youths Against Corruption and Yuwa Hub—were particularly active in coordinating the protests. Participants used them to plan locations, timings, and strategies for gathering. The Post analysed 54,061 messages from the Youth Against Corruption (Hami Nepal) Discord server and roughly 60,000 messages from Yuwa Hub. According to the analysis, between 9:35 pm on September 7 and midnight on September 9, the servers logged about 114,000 messages over roughly 50 hours. On September 7, conversations showed most of the young participants preparing for a peaceful protest. They planned to attend the protests in school and college uniforms and gather at 9 am at Maitighar. Messages also indicated simultaneous demonstrations in major cities outside Kathmandu. Discord chats and server posts recorded calls for both non‑violent action and, in parts of the conversation, violent escalation. The investigation found messages referencing Molotovs, arson and efforts to procure weapons; it also documented wide circulation of how‑to tips and incendiary planning alongside warnings from some users to avoid targeting critical national infrastructure. Political implications and timing ahead of 2084 BS
He pointed to the upcoming 2084 election and said that the party is not ready from any angle. “The year 2084 is already approaching, but Congress is not ready. We are also drifting further away from non-Congress voters, which signals a likely decline in our vote base,” Saud stated, urging leadership to modernise the party and end factionalism. Nepal News
After the Gen Z movement toppled the government, a Discord poll even suggested former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as prime minister. The online coordination and its political reverberations show how youth mobilisation and digital organising have influenced rapid political shifts, raising questions about how parties will respond before the 2084 polls.
