Can Adil Alam Lead Kathmandu Gorkhas in NPL Season 2

Mohammad Aadil Alam (also known as Aadil Ansari, born 18 October 2003, Simroungadh) is a Nepalese cricketer who plays for Madhesh Province in domestic cricket in Nepal. Alam is an allrounder and bats right-handed and right-arm medium pacer. Alam stole the spotlight at the NPL Season 2 auction: “Alam, a Category A player, was the only one out of 164 cricketers in the auction list who garnered the attention of all eight franchises.” It was Kathmandu Gorkhas who got him in the lucky draw at the auction.

He made his T20I debut on 31 March 2022 and his ODI debut on 11 June 2022. Cricbuzz records show his T20 career as 12 matches with 142 runs (SR 131.49) and 9 wickets at an average of 17.44, including a best of 4/24. Cricnepal highlights his ODI cameo: “he made an impact with both his batting (36 off 24) and bowling (9-0-45-3) to end the match in a thrilling tie” and was adjudged player of the match. Kathmandupost documents his off-field saga — arrested on 23 January 2023 over spot-fixing allegations and subsequently acquitted on 25 March 2024 — and notes that fans awaited his return, a demand visible when “all eight NPL teams bid for him” and Kathmandu Gorkhas won him for the maximum Category A price of Rs 1.5 million. NPL coverage places Alam in a strengthened Kathmandu Gorkhas squad as the second season of the Nepal Premier League is expected to take place in November–December 2025.
